Required

Valid LPN license

Two or more years of experience in school or public health Preferred Pediatric experience Experience in providing health instruction 

1. Provides nursing care for sudden illness or injury by operating the school

health room.

2. Conducts mass screenings and other appraisal activities to assess the

health status of students.

3. Promotes communicable disease control through exclusion/readmission

authorization of students having a contagious disease or condition.

4. Assists students to achieve optimal levels of wellness through individual

instruction.

5. Works with parents, care providers, and community resources to meet

students' health needs.

6. Reviews and assesses student immunization records for required

vaccinations.

7. Assumes responsibility for personal continuing education and

professional development.

8. Secures and maintains first aid and CPR (preferably instructor)

certification.

9. Complies with directions of the lead nurse in regard to nursing practices.

10. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness and safety of the

school.

This position will operate under the school's ECST and work directly with students who have IEPs in co-teaching, assistive, and pull-out instructional environments.

Must meet Highly Qualified criteria for state licensure of either: 

2 years of college course credits;

Associate’s degree;

or Passing grade on the state approved assessment.

Experience Required

Demonstrable ability to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher and to guide students with enrichment, remedial, and independent work as set up by the teacher.

Knowledge of general office computer software applications, as well as use of the internet Appropriate oral and written communications skills with students, parents, and co-workers.

Must have the physical ability, dexterity, endurance, and temperament to work with students. 

Preferred

Experience with the set up and operation of instructional equipment and materials.

Experience in managing the behavior of children.

Experience with children with special needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assists with instruction for assigned students in support of, and under the direction of, the teacher.

2. Prepares activities under the guidance of the Classroom Teacher including preparation of bulletin boards, displays, exhibits, and related classroom and school displays.

3. Participates in in-service training programs.

4. Assists Classroom Teacher with non-instructional duties such as: breakfast/snack/lunch time, bathroom, and/or clothing routines, and procedures to ensure the supervision and safety of students.

5. Assists individuals and/or small groups of students in various educational settings including the media center, computer lab, and community-based instructional settings.

6. Assists with clerical duties under the direction of the Classroom Teacher or Principal.

7. Assists with instruction in the physical education program as necessary.

8. Assists students in feeding, toileting, and other daily care routines as necessary.

9. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of students.

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Keeps the assigned work area clean by dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, buffing scrubbing and waxing floors, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning carpets, collecting and disposing of trash and debris from building and grounds, and other related activities.

2. Moves furniture, equipment, & materials and performs all cleaning activities necessary to keep the building and grounds clean and safe.

3. Assists the Head Custodian and Custodian with minor repairs and maintenance work and maintaining the grounds around the school campus when needed.

4. Reports necessary repairs and safety concerns to Head Custodian.

5. Uses appropriate equipment to strip, scrub, buff, and wax floors, clean carpets, and maintain the grounds around the school campus.

6. Assists in securing school building by turning off lights, locking doors and windows.  Also, may assist with opening the school building.

7. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of students and staff.
